London, United Kingdom | Prince of Peckham
London is a vibrant city where cultures meet. A melting pot of different backgrounds. Personalities are introduced, stories intertwine, and love takes on various forms. This editorial began with a simple goal: celebrate Black romance with elegance and authenticity; not as a spectacle, but as grounded presence.
Prince of Peckham, one of South London’s most culturally vibrant venues, provided the perfect setup. It had character and warmth that grounded the entire concept. The team’s collaborative effort delivered tasteful styling and direction that brought the editorial together.

The Creative Direction
The original concept was based on the art of artisan wedding cakes, a symbol of love and an acknowledgment of skilled craftsmanship in sweet indulgence. But as the vendor roster evolved and the venue was confirmed, the narrative expanded and the focus shifted from a classic symbol of romantic celebration to a broader story on Black Love in London, rooted in luxury and community.
Rather than overwhelm the space with elaborate styling, the approach leaned into restraint.
Clean silhouettes and soft movements.
Everything was designed to allow the couple to be the focal point of the editorial and to capture their energy and connection organically.
The Prince of Peckham Venue
The Prince of Peckham is more than a venue. It is a South London cultural landmark, rooted in black heritage. The space carries a cosy relaxed feel: warm woods, leather sofas, amber lighting, layered textures and a sense of community woven into its walls.
Instead of transforming the space into a sleek modern polished venue, the editorial leaned into its existing aesthetics, rustic, relaxed and honest. Ivory chiffon draping softened the environment, while peach runners and ivory linens added gentle contrast against the venue’s warm rich tones.
The result was a satisfying view. It felt very romantic yet equally grounded and despite its refined edge it was unmistakably urban.

A Real British Nigerian Couple
At the heart of the editorial were Naomi and Adebayo, a real British-Nigerian couple whose warm energy shaped the entire flow of the shoot. Their ease together required little direction, effortless choreography evidently on display. The playful interactions. The subtle glances and quiet laughter. Their instinct closeness and tenderness created moments that felt organic and authentic rather than staged.
Including a real couple was important for authenticity to the story. Naomi and Bayo’s chemistry simply elevated it.
This was a reflection of modern Black love in London, captured with warmth and quiet confidence.

Bridal Styling
Naomi wore an ivory chiffon gown that moved beautifully with every step. The bridal dress had a delicate appliqué detail beneath the bust that introduced texture while maintaining elegance and simplicity.
The look felt perfectly aligned with the editorial’s tone. Refined, modern and effortlessly romantic.

Groom Styling by SUITD
Adebayo was styled in a double-breasted satin-lapel tuxedo by SUITD, coined the “Spectre”. This was a deliberate contemporary interpretation of classic Bond tailoring.
The tuxedo’s sharp and bold detail balanced out the softness of Naomi’s dress and created a timeless visual cohesion between the couple.
Members of the SUITD team also assisted with elements of the set styling, contributing to the smooth flow of the day.

Hair & Makeup by Brides by Aina
Naomi’s hair and makeup were styled by Brides by Aina. The look felt effortlessly refined and unmistakably bridal.
The makeup was clean and neutral with an emphasis on enhancing Naomi’s natural features without feeling over the top; this allowed her true self to reflect in every moment, contributing to the calm, editorial quality of the shoot.
Her hair was styled in a simple, timeless way that felt very bridal, complementing the overall look.

Cake Artistry by Wee Cupcakes
The original idea for the editorial came from Wee Cupcakes, whose cake designs anchored the visual concept.
The three-tier ivory cake featured soft blush detailing, displayed on a beautiful gold stand.
Beyond its elegance, the flavours were unforgettable. A rich chocolate sponge alongside a classic vanilla.
By the end of the shoot, the team gathered around with forks and napkins, sampling the cake directly from the tiers in a moment of joyful chaos. It was a spontaneous celebration to sign off a day of fun and successful collaboration.

Acrylic & Signage by Recreate
Recreate designed a set of black acrylic signage pieces which featured tasteful elegant gold typography.
From the welcome sign and seating plan to table numbers and candle holders, the pieces unified the styling across the venue and introduced a contemporary sense of luxury.
The Recreate team also played an important role behind the scenes in helping bring the creative vision together.

Stationery by Love Paper Co
Love Paper Co created peach-toned stationery printed on textured white stock.
The design was minimal and complemented the colour theme well. It added softness and cohesion to the overall aesthetic of the shoot.

Tablescape & Floral Styling
The floral arrangements echoed the editorial’s warm theme. It featured blush peonies, ivory roses, baby’s breath and eucalyptus.
Gold charger plates and cutlery from Event Decor Hire completed the tablescape, introducing subtle luxury without overpowering the setting.

Closing Thoughts
This editorial was a celebration of collaboration. Designers, stylists, and artists came together and created something considered and intentional.
At the heart of it all was a very simple message. Black Romance, in the heart of a London cultural melting pot can still feel very elevated, tasteful and refined without compromising its authenticity. It can still feel deeply human.
